Despite on-and-off drizzle, the Steve Watkins horse training clinic went on as planned at Greene Meadows on April 18. As per previous clinics at this location, Steve had an easy time demonstrating handling techniques with the always agreeable Rocky Mountain Horses... But this time he also got to demonstrate how to overcome resistance while working on an opinionated young Hanoverian that was brought in for the event.
S.H.O.E. organized an equine leg dissection at Greenock Veterinary Hospital which drew quite a crowd of participants not only from the farrier community, but also from the Young Riders 4-H. There's nothing quite like taking something apart to help one understand how it works.
I understand that S.H.O.E. may be organizing another technical clinic like this, or making it an annual event.
